Wrist Pain Physiotherapy

Wrist pain may develop after lifting, weight-bearing through the hand, twisting the wrist, or repeated hand use, and may affect daily work and hand activities. In some cases, the discomfort is more localised around one part of the wrist, while in others it becomes more noticeable during loading, support, or repeated movement.

How physiotherapy assesses

Physiotherapy usually begins by looking at where the discomfort is, which movements provoke it most, and how the wrist responds to lifting, weight-bearing, twisting, or repeated hand use. Where appropriate, wrist movement, grip, and related hand function may also be reviewed to help determine whether the presentation is more consistent with a broader wrist loading problem or a more specific wrist condition.

Physiotherapy may include activity modification, appropriate wrist and forearm-related exercises, loading advice, and graded rehabilitation according to symptom location, activity needs, and day-to-day use. The aim is to improve wrist discomfort and restore tolerance for daily hand use progressively.
