Golfer’s Elbow Physiotherapy
Golfer’s elbow commonly presents as discomfort on the inner side of the elbow, and is often aggravated by gripping, wrist flexion, or repeated forearm use. In some cases, symptoms become more noticeable during lifting, holding objects firmly, or forearm effort, and may affect everyday hand use.
If your symptoms are mainly on the outer side of the elbow and are more noticeable during lifting, twisting, or gripping, you may also refer to [Tennis Elbow Physiotherapy].
Common symptoms
- Pain on the inner side of the elbow
- More noticeable during gripping
- Discomfort during wrist flexion
- Symptoms that come on more easily during lifting or forearm effort
- More easily aggravated after repeated hand use
How physiotherapy assesses
Physiotherapy usually begins by looking at whether the discomfort is mainly on the inner side of the elbow, which movements provoke it most, and how it responds to gripping, wrist flexion, or forearm loading. Where appropriate, forearm and wrist loading, grip, and related hand activities may also be reviewed to determine whether the pattern is more consistent with golfer’s elbow.
How physiotherapy may help
Physiotherapy may include activity modification, appropriate forearm and wrist-related exercises, loading advice, and graded rehabilitation according to symptom location, hand use demands, and everyday loading. The aim is to improve inner elbow discomfort and restore tolerance for daily use progressively.
